We Need New Leadership for Senate Dems (3/16/25)

In a time when the chaos and destruction feel relentless, and our leaders disappoint us, it’s easy to lose sight of the things that give us hope, but those bright spots are all around us.

New Indivisible chapters are forming across the country daily as people refuse to sit on the sidelines. Protesters are showing up in the streets, raising their voices for justice. Each week, our Zooms are filled with people who come to hear from candidates committed to public service for the right reasons and others who simply want to be in community with people who care. On Wednesday evening,100 people attended our Postcarding Bootcamp, eager to learn how to get started. We’ve heard from candidates stepping up to run for school board in Wisconsin and for local offices in New York because they believe in public service and a functioning government. And every day, we see the power of this community keeping our hands outstretched, our doors open, and continuing to care for each other.

When the world feels heavy, these actions remind us: We are not alone, and what we do together matters. Let’s hold onto that hope and keep going.

**Update: Markers For Democracy participated in emergency meetings this weekend with leaders of NY Indivisible groups and Indivisible groups across the country, to discuss the Senate vote on the Continuing Resolution. Indivisible is officially calling on Senate Minority Leader Schumer to step down from his leadership position. After much discussion, the leadership of Markers For Democracy has decided to sign on to this letter, and support new leadership for Senate Democrats.
