Peaceful Organizing (7/14/24)

There is absolutely no place for political violence in a democracy. The strength of our democratic system depends on the peaceful exchange of ideas and the integrity of our electoral process. Resorting to violence undermines the very principles of freedom and justice upon which our nation is built. To preserve our democracy and safeguard our freedoms, it is crucial to channel our energy into nonviolent civic engagement. The most powerful and effective way to defeat Trump, or any political opponent, is at the ballot box!

The Markers For Democracy community must continue our work of peaceful organizing and engagement, including postcarding, phone banking, protesting, canvassing etc., with a focused effort on down-ballot races. These local elections are where decisions that most directly affect our daily lives are made, and by participating actively, we can ensure that our voices are heard and our communities are better represented. At this moment of chaos and uncertainty in this country, we will double down on our efforts on behalf of down-ballot candidates. They need our help more than ever and by helping them to get elected we will help to create the multi-racial democracy we want to live in.
