We All Need to Get in the Game
Election Day is November 3, fewer than 40 days away, but early voting has already started in some states. In the words of Nathaniel Stinnett, Executive Director of The Environmental Voter Project, “The election is here. You need to get in the game.” If you aren’t doing something to help get out the vote, you need to start. If you have friends who are still on the sidelines, now is the time to nudge them off. Postcards are a good place to start as they can be written by anyone with legible handwriting at any time of day or night.
If you need more ideas of what to do, see Emily Amick, author of the popular Substack Emily in Your Phone's list of 66 Things You Can Do To Help Win The Midterms which includes canvassing, phonebanking, textbanking, and more. Emily lists writing postcards with Markers For Democracy at #32. We have thousands of postcards to write; use the clickable table of contents to move to the postcarding section below and use this resource document to get yourself set up. In addition to our regular morning postcarding Zooms, which are overflowing with Red to Blue candidates, we have multiple pop-up Zooms as well as special evening Zooms on 9/30 and 10/7 to meet some of the candidates for whom we are writing. See details below.
This newsletter also includes other ways to get involved including the Vote Blue NYC buses that make canvassing in swing districts easy. In our Slack, we list more opportunities in the #actions-textbank-phonebank-canvass-ballot-cure. To continue with Nathaniel Stinnett's sports metaphor, "Let’s leave it all on the field!"
