Making Every Moment Count
Summer’s over and it’s time to ramp up our multitasking for democracy. After a couple of weeks away from our formal programming, this was our first week back and we are back full throttle. We are doubling and tripling up on Zoom guests, the first Postcards For Democracy mailing deadlines are getting very close, and there are many opportunities to help get out the vote in other ways.
For these remaining weeks, choose your adventure: phone bank, text bank, write postcards, canvass, or do all of the above. Now is the time!
We have a LOT of postcards to write. Our goal is to get one of our handwritten postcards into the hands of every voter our candidates are hoping to reach. To make that happen, we need to finish our lists and we need your help (see below for details.)
And this is the time to stretch a little. If you planned to write 50 postcards, can you write 75? If you’ve never phone banked or canvassed, maybe now is the time to give it a try. Challenge yourself to do a little more than you originally intended, or try something that makes you just a little uncomfortable.
No worries if you haven’t started yet as we can help. There are plenty of postcards to write, and we’ll have lots of opportunities to write together at our pop-ups. You can jump in wherever you are.
It’s very easy right now to get sucked into doom-scrolling and feel overwhelmed by everything happening around us. Taking action is the antidote. We have agency. And how we choose to spend these next several weeks can have a real impact on what happens over the next two years.
So let’s buckle up, multitask, stretch ourselves a little, and make these next several weeks count.
