Reject Violence (9/14/25)

This is a heavy moment. The killing of Charlie Kirk and the rhetoric that excuses or even condones political violence against Democrats is frightening and wrong. We’re already in a dark place, and violence only takes us deeper. That is not who we are or what we’re here for. Our purpose is to build community and to save democracy, shoulder to shoulder.

That was the spirit of our gathering this week, when more than 300 of us came together on Zoom with Joyce Vance and Daniel Squadron. As Joyce Vance and Robert Hubbell both reminded us this week, being part of a community is what sustains us in these difficult times. It was an inspiring reminder of the power we find when we come together to learn, support one another, and act.

Now we need to turn that energy into action. If you haven’t yet contributed to our Giving Circle, please do. We are nearly at 90% of our goal, and every single donation, no matter the size, helps us protect the Democratic majority in the Virginia House of Delegates and build lasting power in the state.

And let’s remember what real change looks like: at the ballot box, by organizing, and through peaceful protest, the path of Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. That’s why we're asking you to save the date for the next No Kings protest on October 18th. We need even larger crowds than last time to make our voices heard all across the country. Follow event details here.

Together, we reject violence. Together, we protect democracy. Together, we build the future we want to see.
