Blue Wave 2025! (11/9/25)

What a week! Across the country in blue, red, and purple areas alike, voters turned out and delivered a Blue Wave of 2025. From state legislatures to local races, our collective grassroots efforts helped Democrats win big and advance the values we fight for every day. So many of the candidates we wrote postcards for, met on our Zoom calls, and supported through our Giving Circle prevailed! And the ripple effect of those down-ballot efforts was felt all the way up the ballot, boosting turnout and helping deliver key victories across the country. Markers For Democracy members, this victory belongs to you. Your postcarding, your giving circle contributions, your phone and text banking, canvassing, and ballot curing all mattered. Week after week, you showed up: writing postcards, attending our Zoom events to learn from candidates and experts, staying informed, and lifting up democracy in every way possible. That’s what grassroots power looks like, and you should feel enormously proud.

As we celebrate this incredible wave, let’s also carry its energy forward. The 2026 election cycle begins now, and we know what works: sustained grassroots activism, community, and care. Together, we’ll keep building on this momentum and keep showing up for democracy.

And as proof that our work never stops, we’re already back in postcarding mode! A special congressional election is coming up in Tennessee on December 2, and we’re writing postcards for Aftyn Behn in that race. Aftyn will be joining us on our Monday morning Zoom, so grab 5 or 10 postcards to write while she’s with us. It’s the perfect way to keep the momentum going.

Finally, as is our tradition, we take a moment to honor and thank the candidates who stepped up and ran courageous campaigns, even if they didn’t make it over the finish line. Their willingness to put themselves on the line makes our democracy stronger. Below, you’ll find suggested thank-you postcard scripts and addresses for some of those candidates, a small but meaningful way to show our gratitude and keep them inspired to stay in the fight.
