Powerhouse Guests (5/23/25)

Last week at Markers For Democracy, we were reminded, twice in one day, why we do this work.

We were honored to host a powerhouse doubleheader on our Zoom featuring Philadelphia DA Larry Krasner and Wisconsin Democratic Party Chair Ben Wikler. Both brought fire, focus, and the kind of clarity that fuels movements.

DA Larry Krasner, a fierce and unapologetically progressive prosecutor, joined us just days before winning his Democratic primary. Larry reminded us that fighting back isn’t just necessary, it’s non-negotiable! From taking on gun violence at the root to standing up to MAGA extremism, he’s proving you can lead with values and results. Murders are down. Sentences are more just. And he’s still holding the line for justice in Philadelphia. If you missed it, this article captures his impact beautifully.

Our second guest of the morning was Ben Wikler, Chair of the WI Democratic Party, a friend of MFD and a frequent source of inspiration. As he prepares to step down after leading the charge in Wisconsin, he left us with a powerful reminder: if we’re going to take back power, it’s going to be precinct by precinct. We’re so grateful for his years of smart, strategic, grassroots-focused leadership, and we know he’s not done yet.

And there’s more where that came from.

Next week, we’re thrilled to welcome Anderson Clayton back to our Zoom, the dynamic and visionary Chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party, whose youth, energy, and strategic brilliance are reshaping what’s possible in the South.

And coming up: Congressman Chris Deluzio, a Pittsburgh native, Iraq War veteran, voting rights attorney, and union organizer who now fights every day in Congress for working families in Pennsylvania’s 17th District. Chris is the real deal, determined to defend our freedoms, take on corporate greed, and make life less difficult for regular people.

We hope you’ll join us for these conversations and many more. Our guest calendar is packed with people who are educating, energizing, and mobilizing voters across the country.

And don’t miss your chance to make your voice heard: save the date for the No Kings Day mass protest on June 14th.
