Happy New Year! (1/1/24)

Happy New Year! We hope you had a happy and restful holiday break filled with family, fun, and everything that brings you joy. As we usher in a new year let's channel our collective energy into a shared vision for a better tomorrow. The 2024 election season begins now, and the stakes could not be higher. With the White House, U.S. Senate and House, state legislatures, school boards, and reproductive freedom referenda on the ballot, it's time to roll up our sleeves, take out our Sharpies, and embark on a journey to safeguard the very foundations of our democracy. As grassroots activists, we are the change we seek or, in the words of President Obama, the ones we've been waiting for. Together, we'll work tirelessly to ensure that democracy not only survives but thrives and that Democrats are elected up and down the ballot to lead us toward a brighter, more inclusive future.

Here is a New Year's Resolution for all of us: We each have friends and relatives who express anxiety about the future of our democracy but have not found a way to participate in bringing positive change. Invite them to try writing postcards with you. You can do this in person or virtually. Our Wednesday night Zoom link is available for small groups to hop on and write a few postcards. We'll be offering more "how to postcard" sessions this year. Or invite them to our regular morning postcarding sessions. 

Let's get to work! Already, there are plenty of postcards to write for two important special elections and several school board races. We have a full calendar of guests booked in January for our morning Zooms. Our January 24th Zoom celebration (RSVP below) of Markers For Democracy's 5th anniversary is going to be a virtual blast with trivia and a video montage, and that's just a tease of the great activities planned.

We are off and running in 2024; together we can make a difference!
